The Dr. Martha Robinson Institute

for Literacy and Education

Certifications

The Robinson Reading System (RRS) Certification is designed for educators, tutors, families, and literacy professionals who want to develop expertise in teaching reading using the Robinson Reading System.

Certification is more than completing a course. It is earned through demonstrated skill mastery. Candidates learn how to administer assessments, teach sounds and decoding skills, deliver lessons, provide corrective feedback, monitor student progress, and apply the instructional practices that form the foundation of the Robinson Reading System.

The certification process combines training, guided practice, observation, and performance assessments to ensure participants can confidently and effectively implement the system with students.

By earning RRS Certification, participants demonstrate their commitment to providing direct, explicit reading instruction and helping all learners become successful readers.

Registered Research Sites

The Dr. Martha Robinson Institute for Literacy and Education partners with schools, tutoring programs, after-school organizations, community agencies, and other educational settings through its Registered Research Sites initiative.

Registered Research Sites serve as implementation and research partners for the Robinson Reading System and other evidence-based literacy practices. Participating organizations receive training and certification opportunities for instructors while collaborating with the Institute on research projects designed to improve literacy outcomes and advance the field of reading instruction.

Through this partnership, sites help bridge the gap between research and practice by providing real-world settings where innovative instructional approaches can be implemented, studied, refined, and shared with the broader educational community.

Registered Research Sites may participate in activities such as:

  • Instructor certification and professional development

  • Pilot studies and program evaluations

  • Literacy intervention projects

  • Data collection and progress monitoring

  • Development and refinement of instructional materials

  • Collaborative research publications and presentations

Together, the Institute and its Registered Research Sites work to improve literacy instruction, expand access to effective reading interventions, and contribute to a growing body of knowledge about how students learn to read.
